The Rural Women’s Gathering 2022 (Forbes) was an inspiring event, kicked off with Elder Aileen Allen and Yarrangirri Holmes welcomed participants to Wiradjuri Country on the opening morning of the event. Followed by Forbes Shire Council Mayor, Cr Phyllis Miller OAM, and Local State Member for Orange, Phillip Donato, officially opening the 2022 event.
The Gathering was MC’d by ABC Radio host, Kia Handley, and kicked off with NSW/ACT AgriFutures Rural Woman of the Year, Cressida Cains, of Pecora Dairy.
Cressida provided insight into how she came ot be engaged in the dairy industry, how they work to support small dairies through Dairy Cocoon, and the new, exciting projects that are moving ahead with Pecora.
Attendees were enthrolled by guest speakers, Jean Kittson, and Melinda Schneider, who provided insight and lessons from their own journeys, with Melinda also capivating the audience with another beautiful performance.
Gatherers were delighted to also hear from Tara Kelly (Century 21 Central West), Dr Karen Ritchie (Boosting the Lachlan Valley Economy Art Project), Fiona Aveyard (Outback Lamb), and Wendy Muffet (Grazing Down the Lachlan).
Royden Donohue got heels, boots and bare feet moving and grooving as he performed at the Saturday evening Gala Dinner.
RAMHP Coordinators, Gaby and Sonia, flew the RAMHP flag at the event, providing integral rural mental health links, resources and knowledge.
