What do you enjoy about working on RAMHP?

“Despite the geographical separation, RAMHP workers across the state are a very tight-knit group of passionate people who genuinely believe in what they are doing. It’s easy to wake up and come to work every day when you are working with like-minded people who get the same sense of satisfaction out of what they are doing.”

What would you consider a highlight from 2014?

“Mental Health Month activities in the Clarence Valley region have been a highlight for this year”

Mental Health Month in the Clarence Valley

Steve has been heavily involved in Mental Health Month activities in the Clarence Valley region in 2014. This year, the committee focused on several local activities which also coincided with the local Clarence Valley Jacaranda Festival. The objectives were to reduce stigma and to encourage knowledge of and access to local services.

Activities for 2014 Mental Health Month in the Clarence Valley coordinated by RAMHP included:

  • World Mental Health Day
  • Yamba Fair display
  • Yamba Forum (Light Up The Darkness)
  • Stress Less Day
  • Library photo exhibition

What would you say is the most important part of your work?

“Working with RAMHP has enabled me to nurture relationships with a variety of community groups and offer education and support to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues, encouraging people to access clinical services when required.”
