RAMHP Partners with Mentally Healthy WA

The Centre for Rural and Remote Mental Health’s (CRRMH) Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) has partnered with Mentally Healthy WA to bring the ‘Act-Belong-Commit’ campaign to rural and remote NSW.

Act-Belong-Commit is a community-based campaign that encourages people to take action to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

The campaign encourages individuals to:

Act: be active in as many ways as you can, physically, socially and cognitively.

Belong: join in community activities, join a book club or a walking group

Commit: make a commitment to an interest or cause. Volunteer, learn a new skill, challenge yourself.

RAMHP’s Rural Mental Health Promotion Officers, based throughout NSW, are armed with a range of resources to encourage people in rural and remote communities to act-belong-commit and keep mentally healthy.

In addition to implementing the program throughout NSW, the RAMHP team decided to utilize the program in the CRRMH workplace.  Most of us spend a large percentage of our waking hours at work, therefore the way we feel at work affects our overall health and wellbeing. By implementing Act-Belong-Commit at CRRMH, RAMHP are hoping to create a mentally healthy workplace and to set an example as to how people can use Act-Belong-Commit in their everyday lives.

Fortnightly, the Act-Belong-Committee sends staff updates which include upcoming activities, tips for staying mentally healthy, puzzles to keep your mind active and opportunities to get involved.

RAMHP’s work with Act-Belong-Commit, and our focus on keeping mentally healthy, recently featured in the Orange City Life magazine. Read the full article here.
